About The Sofa: Your Jewish Community Home
The Sofa Jewish Community Center (Chabad) is dedicated to providing a comfortable, welcoming, and inspiring spiritual hub for every Jew, regardless of background or affiliation. Our unique name, "The Sofa," embodies our mission: to create a relaxed, home-like environment where you can truly be yourself, ask questions, and connect to your Jewish heritage in a meaningful way.
Rabbi Menachem “Mendy” Ezagui
Rabbi Mendy leads the SoFa with warmth, curiosity, and a deep love for every Jew. Alongside his wife, the esteemed Mayta — the rock and light of their home and community — he has built The Sofa as a place where everyone belongs.
Mendy was ordained by Rabbi Weinberg of the Rabbinical College of South Africa and by Rabbi Warhaftig of the Ariel Institute in Israel. He also holds an MBA in Finance and spent a career in software — bringing a rare blend of Torah scholarship, real-world experience, and genuine approachability to his rabbinate.
Whether he’s leading davening, learning one-on-one, or showing up in a costume that makes the whole community smile, Mendy meets people exactly where they are.

Welcomer · Hospitality
Our warm welcomer at the table. Dovid makes sure every kid feels included and that the table is always set — siddurim ready, drinks poured, flowers out, and food on the table.

Children's Programs
Our next-generation program director. Nava runs the children's programs and is always first to help set up — and to taste-test the muffins and cookies — before everyone arrives.

The Rebbe's Vision & Ahavat Yisrael
Inspired by the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, our vision is to foster a vibrant and knowledgeable Jewish community through unconditional love (Ahavat Yisrael), outreach, and education.
We believe that every Jew is a letter in the same Torah scroll, and together, we complete the picture.
